I am extremely disturbed by what I witnessed at this facility. I brought my mother here after knee surgery expecting a safe, supportive environment focused on rehabilitation and recovery. Instead, I checked her out because I did not feel comfortable leaving her in their care. From our experience, the environment did not feel focused on helping my mother regain her independence. We were told she would not have a walker readily available and that staff would not assist her with getting up to use the bathroom. The apparent solution was to keep her in diapers. For a patient recovering from knee surgery who needs appropriate assistance with mobility and basic hygiene, this was completely unacceptable to me. We were also presented with a consent form regarding giving my mother sleeping medication at night. That raised another serious concern for our family, particularly when combined with everything else we were witnessing. What disturbed me most, however, was not limited to my mother’s care. While I was there, other patients were asking ME to get them water because they said staff would not provide it. When I brought this to a staff member’s attention, I was essentially told not to worry about it because they didn’t need water. That moment told me everything I needed to know. These are human beings—many of them elderly, recovering, vulnerable, and dependent on the people working there for their most basic needs. Seeing patients asking a complete stranger for WATER was heartbreaking. I cannot speak to what happens here every day or to every patient’s experience. I can only describe what I personally witnessed during my mother’s stay, and what I saw was enough for me to remove her from the facility. The entire experience left me deeply concerned about the level of attention being given to patients’ basic needs, dignity, mobility, and rehabilitation. It also left me questioning whether the priorities of this facility are truly centered around patient recovery. If you have a parent or loved one being sent here after surgery, I strongly recommend that you visit the facility yourself, ask detailed questions about mobility assistance, bathroom assistance, medications, hydration, staffing, and rehabilitation, and advocate for your loved one. I am grateful that I was there and able to advocate for my mother. What worries me most are the patients who may not have family members present to do the same.
My mother has been a resident here at West Valley Post Acute since 10/21. I can only speak for my family’s experience but I have found that the staff here is very professional and friendly. They treat my mother very well and with respect. I often come to visit unannounced and that says to me that we are always welcome here. My mother always looks groomed, clean and generally in a good mood. No place is perfect. I wish there were more interactive activities. The bingo is fun though and they do a movie day. Also they have little parties on the holidays which I think are very sweet💕. My sisters and I visit as often as we can and we all feel the same way 😊
Front desk is rude
My dad came to this facility with a very severe wound, and I was extremely nervous about his recovery and whether it would heal properly. He had been at a nursing facility before and most are not very reliable. I’m so grateful to say that with the care he received here, his wound completely closed. The wound care team truly did an incredible job, and seeing that kind of progress was such a relief for our family. Maya and Patricia were outstanding throughout my dad’s stay. They were supportive, attentive, and helped us navigate his care during a very stressful time. I also want to recognize the physical therapy team, nurses, and janitorial staff. Everyone played a role in making sure my dad was well cared for and comfortable. The staff worked hard, treated him with kindness, and made a difficult situation much easier for our family. We came in very worried and left incredibly grateful for the care and progress my dad made here. Thank you to everyone who was part of his recovery.
I am extremely happy with all departments from top to bottom from bottom to top. I’ve been here since 2024 of course there are problems, but no matter who they do solve the problem immediately and I’m extremely happy camper.
I am extremely disappointed with the customer service I received from the front desk at West Valley Post Acute, specifically from Karen. Her behavior over the phone and in person was rude, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. She spoke over me and raised her voice, and unfortunately, this is not the first time I have experienced this kind of attitude from her. I was considering referring a patient to this facility, but after this experience, I have decided not to do so. When healthcare professionals are considering where to refer their patients, the way they are treated by the facility’s staff absolutely matters. I believe West Valley Post Acute may otherwise be a good facility, which makes this situation even more disappointing. The front desk is often the first point of contact and represents the entire organization. Staff in that position should be courteous, professional, and welcoming – not rude or confrontational. Karen’s attitude is, quite frankly, a deal breaker for me. I sincerely hope the administration takes this complaint seriously and addresses the issue. A good healthcare facility deserves front – desk staff who reflect the same level of professionalism and respect that patients, families, and referring professionals should be able to expect.
We had our mom at another acute care facility on to have to rush her to emergency do to lack of care. At West Valley the nursing staff and entire team is dedicated and do excellent work. My mom loves it there. Thank you West Valley PA!! They do a great job!
“I can’t say enough good things about Post Valley Rehabilitation Center. They’ve been a huge support for my dad and for me. After his discharge from the emergency room hospital, they brought him in and have kept him under careful observation for at least 30 days. I’m so grateful that they aren’t just sending him out after a short time—they’re ensuring he has a safe place to go after rehab as well. The staff are compassionate, professional, and truly put the patient first. I can’t thank them enough for easing a lot of my stress during this difficult time.”
This facility is so unprofessional with such poor management. I have been asking for a blood draw for 3 days already without any responses. I feel an infection starting and there was no urgency. I wanted to leave a 1 star but leaving a 2 simply because Vanessa from Admissions, Alan & Czarina from therapy have been so good to me and have been taking care of me. Sharpnum & Tina from nursing have been good too. The administrator here has no control of this facility and I witness such inappropriate things here while she sits in her a office laughing with her friends rather taking control of situation to take care of the patients. Today they had a meeting saying they have been trying to contact the Dr when my surgeon only mentioned he got the call today while the RN heard him over speaker. So much stress in this facility while trying to turn me out to the ER after 5pm.. this late on a Friday without keeping me informed. Very inappropriate waiting until they all leave so they can turn me out. No family here and I’m from out of state. Poorly handled and I feel this was also due to a complaint I had addressed regarding what I witness on how they treated a pregnant employee. Noticed this all occurred after witnessing this and bringing this up to their management. How can this go on at such a great establishment. Poorly managed…
My father recently had neck surgery and originally wanted to go to Topanga Terrace since he had been there before. When it came time for discharge, that unfortunately wasn’t an option and we were given the choice between going to Santa Monica or staying local at West Valley Post Acute in West Hills. I can’t say enough good things about the care he received at West Valley Post Acute. The staff went above and beyond for my 79-year-old father, who at the time couldn’t walk or take care of himself. Every single person we encountered treated him with kindness, patience, and genuine compassion. They truly made a difficult time much easier for our family and I’m incredibly grateful. Honestly, everyone on that team deserves recognition (and a raise). I would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for quality care for their loved one.
Nice and clean workers friendly very good experience
Amazing and Magical Place! My Aunt Bettie was brought here after several attempts to seek a suitable care location for her needs and I must say their staff and attention to care for their patients is stellar. During our last visit, Vanessa was making sure that Bettie was well cared for and even brought her some flowers to brighten up her day. It was so special and I just had to let everyone know this place actually cares about their patients. We had less than favorable results in other facilities but I believe we found the right place now. Thank you Vanessa and West Valley Post Acute for going above and beyond!
A great place for recovering elderly. Our family is so grateful for their effort. Very clean rehab/nursing home. Maintenance is top notch. Highly recommended.
My dad just recently was there for six weeks post op and rehabilitation for his hip replacement. The level of care the staff has provided my father has been wonderful. The facility was clean and welcoming. The staff from CNA’s, Nursing, Front desk, Rehab/therapists and Social Worker Maya were so kind, helpful and supportive. I am grateful for the care they provide him.
Do not put your loved ones here. She came to this place under the recommendation of ucla west hills hospital. They don’t provide proper care. Mom went into septic shock and got a respiratory infection. She sat in her own filth for hours. She was lucky to get one change in 24 hours. This caused a stage 4 pressure wound. No wound care. We will be seeking legal action. Protect your loved one from this horrible place. Nice and clean from the outside and they cannot be trusted.
My aunts been coming her for the past couple of weeks and I am very happy with west valley post acute. Vanessa has made our visits incredible and welcoming. I greatly appreciate the staff and all of the work they do.
My mother didn’t receive any medication for 15 hours. No one answered the phone for 16 hours. Nurses and administrators refused to come to the bedside with patient having light on to request help. In the meantime middle of the night, my mom was verbally harassed by a psychotic patient and threatened & recorded the incidents. They forced her to move rooms along with her oxygen and broken back. Staff refused to provide an accurate phone number to call when confronted with the situation. Immediately worked on transferring to a different facility.
West Valley Post Acute is the best post acute facility in the Valley. My mother has been to 3 different post hospital rehab facilities over the last 4 years and this one is by far the best. The facility is always clean, it doesn’t smells the staff are caring. The therapists are awesome. Social Worker Maya is always willing to go above and beyond, she gave me and my wife her personal cell phone if we had any concerns. I highly recommend this facility.
Awful experience using check in machine
My dad has been there for 2 weeks and this place has been the best rehab ever. My dearly departed mother was in a few rehabs in the valley and none were as nice as WHPA. The place is relatively new and the rooms are clean. My dad actually likes the food and asked us to bring him food again. Most importantly, the staff have been amazing. They’re all very helpful, friendly, and have a great attitude. Mariam, the head nurse is an absolute angel. My dad will need another surgery in a month and we are definitely bringing him back here.
This is by far the cleanest rehab I have been to . The nurses are extremely nice, especially Maryam who has helped my dad tremendously, and the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful.
